Where is the best place to mount kitchen cabinet hardware on a horizontal drawer?

I’m looking to add kitchen cabinet hardware/handles to horizontal drawers and I’ve seen them placed in various positions. I’ve seen them most frequently dead center and above center (for lower drawers). I’m guessing dead center is the way to go but I’m curious if anyone else has a different take. Thanks!

  1. It depends on the height of the drawers and if the supporting runners are top or bottom if on bottom then in the middle if on top toward the top to relieve pressure on the runner when opening.

  2. Dead center is the way to go. Mounting handles anywhere else could affect the tracking on the drawer.

  3. It seems like above center would be a more contemporary look as opposed to the more traditional dead center placement.
