I’m getting ready to sell a house I’ve just remodeled and I’d like to get one of those *display* cardboard dishwashers like they have in model homes, so that there’s no big empty spot in the cabinets… Any ideas?

I would try to go to a Mobile Home dealer and ask them how you can go about getting one, they might even have some ideas on where you could find one, and possbly give you one of their old ones.
At the "Fake Cardboard Dishwasher" store.
If you can’t get a fake dishwasher think about an art poster or a bulletin board for that spot. It would be great for a pull out butcher block on rollers, a place to store your garbage can or step stool or an stool to sit on. You could put a curtain or a terry cloth towel on a tension rod if you did not want the space to show.
I would NOT do this. Those are hard to come by. The closest thing I ever saw to one was a cardboard correctly sized TV to fill up the hole in an entertainment center, I have never seen a display dishwasher.
If you are trying to sell the house, maybe just get a nicer but still low end variety dishwasher and sell it with the house. People like completion and ready to use homes. But really a dishwasher rarely sells the house as long as there is a place/plumbing to put one. Now, if there was a nice professional range in the house, it would increase the value of your home…but not a dishwasher.
What I would do instead of filling the hole, if you don’t put in a dishwasher, is clean up the area as much as you can and use it as a way to showcase the house’s plumbing. You can say something like…"and here is where the dishwasher goes. The plumbing is in good shape in this house. It is made of copper, see?" and then top it off with a boost to the usefulness of the kitchen, functionality of the layout, etc. "So you see this is ready to be a great family kitchen. Excellent storage, gas range, etc."
Don’t forget too, that the family buying your house, depending on its condition, may gut the whole kitchen and do something else. So having a DW in that hole may be the least of their worries.
You will certainly NOT fool anyone with a cardboard dishwasher. What would happen is that something this odd (that people may expect to see in a store but not a house) would call attention to the fact that there isn’t a working dishwasher there. If I saw it there, I would wonder if you were trying to slick sell me? OR if you were spending time looking for that thing, rather than doing other things to make the house market-ready.
Just my 2 cents!
I am not sure maybe a appliance dealer. Or maybe home depot, Menard’s, etc. Some where that sells cabinets. They may be able to hook you up with a display. But I would not worry about it. Most people are going to see that a dishwasher will fit in that hole. If they like the house they are not going to worry about there not being a real or fake dishwasher in that spot. I have been looked at a lot of houses in the past when I was relocating and I just thought it was great that you could put a dishwasher built in and did not have to move a portable back and forth to the faucet. Good luck!
get an empty box, and some crayolas, and start drawing.
Ask around at the furniture stores they always have those type of things maybe they would give you one
I would get a cardboard box the size of the hole and cover the front of the box with metal flashing. You can get this at any hardware/home improvement store. It comes in rolls that are anywhere from 2-3 ft wide x 8ft long, and is easily cut with a boxcutter. Cost is $5- $10 per roll, and would give the appearance of a stainless steel dishwasher. You can also take out the plastic colored piece on the DW front, use it as a guide, and cut yourself a new front out of flashing. Looks like stainless steel.
