Please tell me about tub & shower liners?

I need to update my bathroom which currently has a shower liner in it. I need to replace it and do something with the tub (it’s aqua). I have a large window in the middle of the long wall of the shower with a wooden frame that I currently have painted with marine vanish and put a shower curtain over. How much does something like this cost? Could I do it myself? I know how to caulk and that’s about the extent of my plumbing knowledge. We are on a tight budget anywhere we can save is good.

  1. PLEASE! Whatever you do, stay away from the American Standard’s dangerous bathtub called "AMERICAST". Our tub experience with Americast was a disaster, the bottom of the tub is not flat, uneven, not stable, and we have found that American Standard is very hostile and did not honor the warranty. The bottom of the Americast bathtub is very slippery and unstable, the tub flexes and creaks when you stand in it. The best and safest bathtubs are made of cast iron, stable and the most durable, and I would recommend any manufacturer other than American Standard.

  2. i have your same issue! ive been looking into the tub liner thing too, and cant find any available retail. i only find them custom made thru bath-fitters or rebath. the least expensive seems to be in the $2000.00 range.
