Can i use a welding torch as a beadmaking hot head torch?

I have a welding torch, and was wondering if i could use that torch to make those cool glass beads, rather than buying a hot head torch

  1. If you mean by welding torch, that you have an oxyacetylene torch, then I don’t think that this will work -soft glass needs a neutral flame to melt and keep its colours, oxyacetylene torch is an oxidized flame (extra oxygen is added).
If you mean a braising torch, again I don’t think that this will work, but for the opposite reason, this one won’t pull enough air into it to produce a neutral flame.
Better to spend the 12 or so pounds for the hothead.

This site has a good bit of info on the hothead….

    good luck and have fun.
