Our kitchen has Fluorescent lighting, how do we upgrade & How do we make it recessed lighting instead?

We just moved into a house built in 1993, and I would prefer to have lamp fixtures or recessed lighting instead of the ugly fluorescent light above. Can we do it ourselves or do we need to hire an electrician? Thank you for your input!!

For my project, i need some new ideas to design a bathroom product like tap, vanity basin, showers, toilets, etc

Im doing a project on bathroom products design. For that, i need to know the EXPERIENCES, NEEDS and DESIRES of both novice and expert users of bathroom products. These bathroom products can be – Taps, Showers, Toilets, Baths, Vanity basins, or Bathroom furniture. I have to do any one of these products (right now im thinking to do tapware and vanity basins). Can anyone tell me their experiences while using a tap or a vanity basin or any of the above product, their needs and desires. In addition, some new ideas of improving any of the above bathroom products would also be appreciated. Im also looking for something that even conserves water since a lot of water gets consumed in bathroom. Thanks!

If a vacuum is quiet does that mean that it is not as powerful?

I am looking to purchase a canister vacuum for our home with mostly hard wood flooring and have gone to several vacuum shops to try out different vacuums and was told today that the Miele brand vacuums may be quiet but are not powerful at all. Miele had been my first choice because they are very quiet but after the sales reps spill today I’m not so sure. Just wanted to see what others thought before I purchase. Any thoughts or reccomendations would be greatly appreciated.

When is the last time you cleaned your ceiling fans?

I woke up with a dozey of a sinus headache this morning and I wondered why since nothing is blooming to upset my hayfever. Then I looked up. I couldn’t remember when I had last cleaned my ceiling fan. I turned it off…ewwwww! No wonder my sinus’ are going nuts! So for those of you who have ceiling fans that have been turned on all summer turn them off. Now look at all the dust that the fan has been circulateing in the air….and into your lungs!
If you can reach them with a ladder then you can clean them this way: Since most fans are wood use some Murphy Oil Soap in a bucket of water, use a clean damp rag and just wipe them down.
I’m not waking up tomorrow with a headache!

What are these things called and where can I get one?

People who cook over an open fire sometimes have a rack over the fire that holds the pots and cooking utensils as well as grates and all kinds of accessories (like a little kitchen by the fire pit). I really want all of that because I like to cook over the fire in my yard. Does anyone know what all of it is called and where I would be able to get something like that? Thanks for your help.
